Bonfire Night

Bonfire Night

Neighbourhood Officers from Greater Manchester Police will be on patrol across the Alexander Beat today alongside colleagues from Oldham Council's Community Safety Team to help keep our communities safe during Bonfire Night.

We would like to remind everyone who is celebrating to use fireworks responsibly and be aware of the dangers they can pose if misused.

✅ Follow all safety instructions provided with fireworks.
✅ Ensure children are supervised at all times.
✅ Only purchase fireworks from reputable and licensed retailers.
✅ Never throw fireworks or use them in the street or other public places.
✅ Be considerate of your neighbours, pets, and vulnerable members of the community.

Unfortunately, Bonfire Night can sometimes lead to increased anti-social behaviour, including the misuse of fireworks by young people. Fireworks can cause serious injury, damage property, and put others at risk when used irresponsibly.

If you witness anti-social behaviour, nuisance involving fireworks, or groups of youths causing concern, please report it to Greater Manchester Police via 101 or online at www.gmp.police.uk.

🚨 In an emergency, or if there is an immediate risk to life or property, always call 999.

By working together, we can help ensure everyone enjoys a safe and enjoyable Bonfire Night.
